Nuclear Iran

Some people viscerally react to the name of USA in foreign affairs.Now while I certainly do not think that USA smells of roses in everything it does, I cannot for the life of me understand why Prakash Karat, the Communist Party (Marxist) supremo wants the Govt. of India to vate for Iran in any issue involving that country and the UN in the near fuuture.

Let us forget about US-disseminated intelligence and concentrate on what we do know.

Iran has access to uranium- enrichment through centrifuges, courtesy Dr. A.Q. Khan of Khan Labs fame; the only self-confessed nuclear proliferator in the world who, by the way, is also safe from any US action.(Why?Ah, there hangs another tale--).

It is my understanding that nuclear power plants do not need centrifuge-enriched Uranium.

Now, why is it in India's interest to have a population of nuclear weapons under Iranian control? And if, once in a while, the foreign policiy interests of India and USA do converge if not coincide, why is it a sacrilege?

Would anybody care to educate me please?
